Lifestyle Member of the Month Inside Scoop

How long have you been working with Own Your Eating?

I started working with Own Your Eating on the 20th April 2020.

What made you decide to give flexible eating a try? (give your back-story a little, who you are, what you do, family, any diets you’ve tried)

Ever since my early teens I’ve struggled with weight, from restricting my food to overeating. Once I had children my weight leveled out a bit but I’ve always had to watch what I eat. I love my carbs, especially bread and potatoes. I’m originally from England and moved to America 13 years ago with my husband and two children who have special needs and I put everything into taking care of them. I  was  a stay-at-home mum when we first moved to America until I was able to work , I now work in a local school as a special ED aide. I was totally fed up with having no energy and feeling fat and having to get bigger clothes sizes every time I wanted to buy something. I’ve tried lots of different diets from weight watchers to slimming world and keto to paleo and even tried doing flexible eating by myself, but all were short term fixes.

What was the hardest part when you started out and how did you overcome that?

For me the hardest thing was making myself a priority. I always put myself last but I realized that by taking care of myself I was actually taking care of my family. When my kids see me taking care of myself they see that their own health is important too.

What is one thing you’re most proud of?

It’s hard to say just one thing but one thing is my “closet shopping “. Each week I go through my closet and try things on  I haven’t worn in years. For me it’s a great way to know that I’m taking control of myself.

What, in your opinion, has kept you consistent all this time?

One thing that has kept me consistent is knowing I have a bunch of people cheering me on but also I have had some big life changes this year and I’m proving to myself that I can do whatever I set my mind to.

What do you do for fitness?

At the moment I do Beachbody workouts. I love to lift weights so at some point I want to get back to CrossFit as I love the community and I always think if you’re in a class you tend to work harder.

What’s your ultimate goal?

To look good naked! Lol! My ultimate goal is to feel comfortable with what I see looking back at me in the mirror and to be able to maintain a healthy weight for me.

Anything crazy on your bucket list? (bungee jumping, sky diving?)

Ok this is a little crazy but I would love to compete in a figure competition but I think I’ll leave it to swimming with the dolphins.

What is your favorite food and why?

I’m a foodie so just about anything but if it was a last meal time thing it would have to be either proper English fish and chips because being from England it is probably the one thing I miss the most or steak and mashed potatoes with veg because who doesn’t love a good steak?!

What is your least favorite food and why?

Liver and Brussel sprouts! As a kid you eat what you’re given or you go without and they were the two things that I just couldn’t eat. But I love liver pate go figure!

What has been your biggest surprise about working with Own Your Eating?

The biggest surprise is that Roz takes into account what I think although I always go with what she thinks and she is super supportive.

Would you recommend Own Your Eating to others and if so, why?

I would and have recommended Own Your Eating to a few friends. I think even if you have a good idea of what you should be eating after watching Jason and Roz in their Beginner macros video it really helps you to understand more about Macros and how to approach your nutrition.
